Overland AI is proud to have raised $32 million in Series A funding. The round was led by 8VC, whose investments in transformative defense companies such as Palantir Technologies, Anduril Industries, and Saronic Technologies speak for themselves. This milestone is more than a funding round; it is a launchpad for revolutionizing how tactical operators command fleets of ground vehicles in defense missions.
The United States and its partner nations are navigating the most complex era for national security since the Cold War, driven by escalating global rivalries. This evolving landscape requires innovative solutions, and many members of our team bring decades of experience tackling the hardest problems in defense. From our perspective, we have observed a significant shift in the U.S. Department of Defense’s openness to adopting advanced technologies from non-traditional new entrants, a trend that continues to gain momentum.
Since forming the company just over two years ago, we have focused on meeting the urgent demands of modern warfare. Today’s battlefield is flooded with sensors, making it so transparent that adversaries can see nearly everything happening on it and quickly react. Autonomous ground systems are a powerful force multiplier for formations that both increases transparency in warfare and counters it.
Ground autonomy has taken longer to field on the battlefield than aerial or maritime systems precisely because it is so difficult to build. Solutions have been promised but crumble in contested environments: faltering without GPS, unable to traverse rugged terrain, and lagging behind operational tempo. Commanders simply cannot be left unsupported in the most critical moments. At Overland AI, we are changing the status quo by bringing together different areas of expertise that have until now remained siloed.
This is about building ground autonomy that actually works on the battlefield. Since launching our OverDrive autonomy stack, and now our intuitive OverWatch C2 interface, we have continued to push the boundaries of what ground vehicles can achieve in contested environments. If the past has taught us anything, it is that piecemeal solutions and theoretical systems do not save lives. Reliable, tested solutions do. And they are ready today.
We believe that a deep understanding of our customers is just as critical as great technology. Through close collaboration with end users and sustained interaction with senior leaders, we have found that our ground autonomy provides capabilities for troops to complete their missions that today are only possible with immense risk. Indeed, we have a growing body of evidence from our work with the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, SOCOM, DARPA, and DIU.
At the heart of Overland AI is an extraordinary team. Our people combine expertise from academia, government, and industry; we blend world-class roboticists, machine learning pioneers, and ground vehicle specialists with military veterans who are passionate about Overland’s mission. This unique mix of talent allows us to solve the hardest problems in ground autonomy and deliver solutions that meet the real-world demands of modern warfare.
With this funding, we are increasing our product offerings, accelerating deployments, and investing further in research and development to meet the defense sector’s most urgent needs. As part of this growth, we are also expanding our team and inviting exceptional individuals to join us.
Our team has now grown to 50 people. We are looking for those who thrive on solving complex challenges and are passionate about building technology that protects lives on the battlefield. If you are excited to help shape the future of ground autonomy and contribute to this critical mission, apply to Overland AI here.
